Governance

Wooburn Green Primary School is an academy of the Great Learners Trust (GLT). The Great Learners Trust is a charity and a company limited by guarantee and is comprised of and governed by:

  • Members who guarantee the liabilities of the Trust and review the strategic direction.
  • A Board of Trustees who are responsible for, and oversee, the management and administration of the Trust and the Academies run by the Trust.
  • Local Governing Boards (LGBs) - GLT Trustees have established academy governance committees, known as Local Governing Boards (LGBs) to carry out some of its school level governance functions. The Local Governing Board ensures that the Trust’s mission and values are reflected within our school community. It monitors how well the school is performing, supports the school's unique ethos and curriculum, and provides reports to the Trust Board on local priorities and progress. In fulfilling these duties, the LGB serves as an important link between the Trust Board and the local community, including parents, pupils, and staff.

The LGB operates in accordance with the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation, which outlines the division of responsibilities between the Trust Board and local governance.

Together, the Trust Board and the LGB ensure effective governance that prioritises pupils' learning, safety, and wellbeing in all decision-making.

Further information about the governance structure and committee terms of reference can be found on the GLT website - https://www.greatlearnerstrust.co.uk/

Local Governing Board Members

Community Governor: Chad Jeeawock (Co-Chair)

I joined the Governing Board at Wooburn Green Primary School in November 2022 following a number of enjoyable years spent as a Trustee at a multi-academy educational trust in West London. After moving  to nearby High Wycombe I knew that I wanted to continue in a governing role within the locality, and came to Wooburn Green after visiting the school and seeing how excited the staff and students were about learning and their school community. My background is in higher education professional services, and I hold a Bachelors degree in Music and a Masters degree in Education, Policy and Society. I look forwards to bringing my skills and experience to Wooburn Green and working with the team here make sure the students receive the best education possible.

Community Governor: Jacquie Coles (Co-Chair)

I have lived in Wooburn Green with my husband Simon, for 40 years and been part of The Community Church for the same length of time. Both my children spent happy years at the school and now I have retired, being a governor is an opportunity for me to give back to the school. I have been a Headteacher of three very different primary schools and am passionate about everyone working together within a school community, to make it the best place it can be for the children. I like to spend time outdoors, running and exploring pathways and belong to the local gym.

Community Governor: Ben Stevenson (Vice Chair)

As a governor, I’m excited to bring my experience in education and my connection to the local community. I’m currently Director of Digital Learning at a nearby school and captain of the Men’s 1st team at Wooburn Park Tennis Club. Having grown up in Wooburn and now raising a 20-month-old daughter nearby, I really want to invest in our area’s future. With a Master’s in Education and a background in teaching, I understand the challenges schools face and I’m really enjoying the chance to be involved in the bigger, strategic picture as our school continues its exciting journey forward.

Parent Governor: Bhopinder Sanghera

I am a father of two young boys who both attend Wooburn Green Primary School.

My boys adore their school and have come on leaps and bounds since attending.

I work locally in Bourne End, I enjoy keeping fit and spending time with my family.

We love the community spirit and the enriched learning environments that the school offers. I am extremely proud to be part of Wooburn Green Primary and all that the school stands for. I am excited to have joined the Governing board and look forward to working along side the school and the fantastic team.

Staff Governor: Mrs Saunders (currently on Maternity Leave)

I have been a teacher at Wooburn Green Primary School since 2023, and have worked in the education sector for a number of years. I have taught in a range of year groups and I am currently the Assistant Headteacher for Early Years leading on school improvements in this area.

Parent Governor: Sophie Jackson-Youngs

My family and I have been living in Wooburn Green since 2021 and we currently have one child at Wooburn Green Primary School and another due to start soon.  I currently work in the Speech and Language Therapy service in the Buckinghamshire NHS Trust but my background is in teaching, both here and in New Zealand, where I was lucky enough to take on the role of SENCO alongside my classroom teacher role.  I am passionate about igniting a love of learning and helping children thrive in their education, so I am excited to embark on this governor journey, helping our school to continue to flourish and be the most inspiring and nurturing learning environment it can be.

Parent Governor: Ajay Gore

My family moved into Wooburn Green in 2024 and we have one child at Wooburn Green Primary School. Knowing the positive impact a school has on pupils and families is what has encouraged me to become a governor.

If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life - I believe the same is true for children at school. When learning is positive, supportive and enjoyable, it becomes something they engage with more naturally and confidently. Helping to create that kind of environment is something I care about and hope to contribute to in my role.

I work in an environment, where safeguarding and balance are a strong focus, and I bring that mindset into my work as a governor. Outside of work, I am passionate about mental wellbeing, I train regularly at the gym and play football whenever I can. Most importantly, I value spending time with my family.

Staff Governor: Miss Marks

I joined Wooburn Green in 2024 and have loved becoming part of such a friendly and supportive school community. I have a degree in Psychology, where I developed a particular interest in how strong relationships between parents and teachers can help children flourish. I love getting to know each child as an individual and believe that working closely with families is key to helping children feel happy, confident and ready to learn. Outside of school, I enjoy volunteering in the local community, particularly through my active role in Scouting, and am passionate about learning practically and through experiences.

Statutory Information

As a school within the Great Learners Trust, we are required to publish key governance information so families can clearly understand how our school is supported and overseen.

Our school follows the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation, Local Governing Board (LGB) Terms of Reference, and the Trust’s Governance Structure. These documents explain how responsibilities are shared between the Trust and the school, the areas of focus for governors, and how governance works across the Trust.  All of these documents are available to view on the Great Learners Trust website.

Every governor also completes an annual Register of Interests to ensure transparency regarding any personal or professional connections. We also publish the Governor Attendance Record for the previous academic year so families can see each governor's level of engagement in LGB meetings. These documents are both available to view below.
