Year 5

Year 5

Home-learning for 24-26/6

Tuesday- the children were sent home with a science sheet to complete and bring back on Wednesday.

Wednesday

Have a go at coding your own Microbit pedometer!

On any browser, go to: https://makecode.microbit.org/

Watch the videos on Microsoft Teams (Assignments), one step at a time, and have a go at creating your own code.

If you want to challenge yourself to add more conditions or something else creative - go for it!

Download your code as a file and upload to Teams - just like we did last week. (Click Hand in!)

If you struggle, or something goes wrong. Don't worry - it's all about just having a go!

Thursday

Let's finish off our Canva posters.

Go to: https://www.canva.com/

Login with your microsoft logins - just as we have before.

Navigate to Classwork, then Assignments and find your DT - Farm to Fork poster.

Please complete the poster and click 'Send to Teacher'.

I will send your feedback there so please check my response.

Success Criteria:

  • The poster should explain the journey from a cow living on a farm, to becoming beef in our shops. (You might need to do a bit of research if you can't remember from the lesson!)
  • The poster should include images and a design relevant to the topic - greens, grass, cows etc.
  • You punctuation needs to be correct - capital letters, full stops, spelling etc!

Your teacher is Mrs Gerrish and your Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Hussein.

Welcome to Year 5

Year 5 is predominately taught by Mrs Gerrish, with Mrs Hussein as your Learning Support Assistant. P.E lessons will be carried out by our Sports coach, Mr Pearce, on a Thursday afternoon - please ensure children come in wearing PE kit.

In Spring and Summer, Children will also have 1 hour of PE with the class teacher.

Forest school will be carried out by Miss Bishop (our Forest School Leader) on Wednesday in the Autumn Term. Children will need to wear appropriate forest school attire for this. Below is our Timetable for the Autumn Term.

Homework

Spellings - Children will receive new spellings lists in their yellow folderes on a Monday. These should be learnt at home daily and returned on Friday ready for our spelling tests.

Reading - Children should read for 15minutes at home everyday - including weekends! They should read about 10 pages of their homework book and if they have time another book of their choice for pleasure. Both can be recorded in the reading records - but homework books should be read and recorded first as this helps us check their reading level.

Maths - Maths homework will be sent home on Fridays in blue folders. This should be done and returned by Monday.

If you have any questions about homework, please speak to Mrs Gerrish or Mrs Hussein.
