Your Class Teacher is Mrs Miah and your Learning Support Assistant is Ms Reid.

Welcome to Year 3! We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning, discovery and achievement. This page contains important information about class routines, expectations and our exciting curriculum.

Staffing and Weekly Timetable

• Year 3 will be taught predominantly by Mrs Miah.
• PE lessons will be taught by our Sports Coach, Mr Pearce, on Friday mornings.
• Children will also have one hour of PE with Mrs Miah on Wednesday mornings.
• Please ensure children come to school wearing their full school PE kit on PE days.

Forest School

During the Spring Term, Forest School sessions will be led by Miss Bishop, our Forest School Leader, on Wednesdays.

Children will need to wear:

• Appropriate outdoor clothing
• Suitable footwear
• Clothing that can get muddy and wet

Please ensure all items are clearly labelled.

These arrangements may be subject to change depending on the needs of the school.

What Your Child Needs in School

Please ensure your child brings the following items:

• Reading book and reading record (every day)
• Water bottle
• Spelling book
• Appropriate clothing for the weather
• PE kit (on PE days)
• Pencil case (optional)

Important Reminder

Please do not allow your child to bring toys or personal belongings into school unless specifically requested by a member of staff.

Our Learning Journey

Throughout the year, our learning will be driven by exciting enquiry-based topics:

Autumn Term

How do ancient civilisations grow, change and leave a legacy?

Children will explore significant ancient civilisations, investigate historical achievements and discover how the past continues to influence our lives today.

Spring Term

How does life change as time moves on?

Pupils will investigate change over time, considering people, places, inventions and the natural world.

Summer Term

How do we help our future world?

Children will learn about sustainability, environmental responsibility and the positive actions we can take to shape the future.

Home Learning

To support learning beyond the classroom, all pupils will receive the following home learning activities:

Daily Reading

• Children should read every day.
• Reading records should be brought to school daily.
• Reading records will be checked and signed as part of the morning routine.

Maths

• Weekly maths fluency homework will be given out every Friday.
• Homework should be returned by Monday.
• Children will be provided with a blue Maths folder to keep homework safe.

Spellings

• Weekly spelling lists will be issued every Monday.
• Spellings will be tested the same week on Friday.
• Children will be provided with a yellow Spellings folder to store their spelling homework.

Working Together

We value the partnership between home and school and appreciate your support in helping your child to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning throughout Year 3.
